Benny Emmons started Supreme Rope Company in Grand Prairie,
Texas in 1974. Benny acquired the basic rope making skills from his father,
Pete Emmons, and started making rope at his dad’s place when he was 6
years old. Pete
Emmons began making ropes in 1930 with a homemade rope twister he invented
using old car parts and junk. Pete was born in Oklahoma and was raised in a
cotton patch in west Texas, but as soon as he was old enough he got horseback and started cowboying
for the Matador Ranch, and vowed he would never go back to that cotton field.
During this time he started making lariats by hand and would ride a horse to
Ft Worth on the weekends and sell his ropes. It wasn’t long until he
gained a reputation for his quality handmade lariats. Mr.
Emmons entrusted to Benny the skill of making handmade lariats and the
tradition of quality and fair pricing. Pete Emmons passed away at the age of
89 on July 26th 1998. Benny
Emmons started his own company in 1974 with a wife, two kids to feed, and
$200.00 in his pocket. Over the years Benny and Family have added so much to
the line that a name change seemed to be in order. Supreme Western Products
became the name to encompass the wide range of horse and western products
that include virtually everything for the cowboy, cowgirl, trader, trainer or
anyone that messes with horses or rodeos. The Emmons name has been synonymous
with handmade lariats for nearly ¾ of a century. Today
Supreme Western Products is the largest manufacturer in the United States of
handmade lariats as well as a complete rope line including bulk rope, braided
rope, paracord products, pigging strings, girth
cord and the list goes on. Supreme’s line of leather goods is
extensive, covering tack, strap accessories plus an array of exclusive items
not found elsewhere. Personalized trophy items for rodeos, shows fairs, etc.
The trophy items include halters, breast collars, blankets and anything else
that has space big enough to tool on. All of our chaps are made in-house in
Grand Prairie, Texas and the line covers virtually every size and style
imaginable and on occasion some beyond. Supreme
manufacturers a wide variety of saddle pads, from the traditional hair pads
up through the top of the line felt and Pro-Fit pads. Supreme cinchas are made entirely in-house from spinning the
cord, to tying the cinchas, to wrapping the centers
and reinforcing them with leather bars, to tagging them. By being in control
of the manufacturing all the way thru helps us
provide much better quality, pricing and delivery. Supreme Western’s
nylon products include halters, leads, dog furnishings and tack. Space does
not permit but a partial listing of all the products that are manufactured
and sold by Supreme Western Products. Our
products are available thru our dealers who are in almost every state in the
United States and most countries in the free world. Supreme
Western Products is still a family owned and operated business that prides
itself in personal attention to customers and products that we manufacture
right here in the good ole USA. This tradition has carried through three
generations and is headed for the fourth. Benny Emmons, President of the
company, with wife Becky Emmons, secretary and treasurer, son Benny Emmons Jr customer relations and sales. Benny and Becky have six
grandchildren, Kelsey, Tyler, Justin, Kamiryn,
